Tech for Clean Water: Supporting Rainmaker Enterprise in South Sudan
Clean water is one of the hardest infrastructure challenges anywhere, and Rainmaker Enterprise has taken it on in South Sudan. To support that work, the ERA network provided Rainmaker Enterprise with a donation of refurbished technology.
Why a water nonprofit needs computers
Behind every water project is planning, coordination, training and reporting — and all of it runs on technology. For a nonprofit, every dollar not spent on hardware is a dollar that can go directly into the mission. That is exactly where donated, refurbished equipment fits: dependable machines at no cost, so the budget stays focused on the work.
Equipment with a past — and a future
The devices the ERA network donates begin as retired business equipment. Each one goes through certified, multi-pass software erasure and careful refurbishment before being matched with a recipient organization. With this donation, Rainmaker Enterprise joins international network partners like Futed in Chile, MFT in Madagascar, Kompjuteri Nade in Bosnia and the Isa Mundo Foundation in Mexico.
One overseas recipient put it this way: "None of these people ever would have been able to afford a laptop in their life." That is the gap the network's donation program exists to close — in South Sudan and everywhere else it operates.
