ERA and Greentec, partners for over two years to create a more sustainable environment

Non-profit Organization works with Cambridge Recycling Company to Divert E-waste from Ontario Landfills

Calgary, AB | August 28, 2018 – The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) continues to work with an e-waste recycling solutions company to reduce unnecessary electronic waste in Ontario. Since 2016, ERA has prevented toxic materials from entering the environment by recycling them through Greentec, an industry leader in safe and responsible e-waste recycling, ensuring they are properly processed.

Recycling end-of-life electronics, which can contain toxic materials such as mercury, lead, cadmium and other heavy metals, is essential to ensure that these harmful materials are not released into the environment.

ERA’s founder, Bojan Paduh, says it is important for partners to work across provincial borders to achieve broader environmentally-conscious initiatives.

“Working with recyclers across provinces who share our goal to create a more sustainable environment is very important to us,” says Paduh. “So far, the ERA has recycled up to 600 tons of e-waste over the past two years and we expect to triple this amount in the near future with the help of Greentec, who also shares our passion for the circular economy.”

Betty Pereira, COO of Greentec, says the partnership helps extend the life and maximum value of electronics while responsibly recycling unusable parts.

“We believe in using resources for as long as possible,” says Pereira. “Our exclusive processing technology enables us to minimize the risk of toxin exposure to help keep our environment secure and waste-free.”

By addressing the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing digital divide, ERA is creating a more environmentally sustainable future.

“We have already recycled such a large amount of e-waste in such a short period of time, that we can only imagine what the future will hold for this partnership,” says Paduh.

About the Electronic Recycling Association

Established in 2004, ERA is a non-profit organization directed to reduce the environmental impact of improperly-discarded toxic electronic waste by offering accessible services to help corporations and individuals manage their retiring IT assets. Through industry-leading pickup, data removal and reporting/certification services, ERA provides a full-circle solution for e-waste management. With reuse being ERA’s top priority, every item that is received is examined for any remaining productive life and refurbished for reuse. True end of life items are transferred to accredited Canadian recyclers where a nil landfill contribution can be assured.
