ERA donates Technology to Making Changes

Women in Technology Receive a Chunk of Technology

We were excited to donate three laptops to the Making changes Association. This donation will go towards their program, Women in Technology. This program is a 6-month long “boot camp” that gets women interested in technology prepared to go out into the workplace and find a job and be comfortable in their role.

Technology

This Program includes three main parts:

 

  1. Employment and Life Skills program(5 weeks) – women are supported to develop the awareness, knowledge, and skills in the areas of assertiveness, communication, vocabulary, networking, job search and job maintenance.
  2. Technical training(19 weeks) – Facilitated by the team from YYC Net Labs the CCNA Routing and Switching program, provides networking theory, practical experience, soft-skills development and career exploration leading to A+, CCENT and CCNA certifications.
  3. Work experience(4 weeks) – Making Changes offers all participants a work experience opportunity in the Information and Tech. sector.

In order to be eligible you need:

To be an Immigrant or Aboriginal women

Have a “Can Do” attitude

A stable living environment

Clear employment goals

Interest in the Information and Technology industry

Ready, willing and able to commit to the entire program

Ready for employment
