The Beacon Learning Centre Receives a Laptop

The Beacon Learning Centre (BLC) is a non-profit child care centre which provides a diverse range of age-appropriate early childhood programs. They offer full-day childcare for children aged 18 months to 4 years, and a part-time morning nursery school program for children aged 2 ½ to 4 years. Their goal is to stimulate a love of learning in a nurturing and positive environment. They believe that children learn best when they feel comfortable and loved. The BLC is a ‘home away from home’ for your children.

The BLC received a donated laptop for their dedicated teachers. Children’s learning is documented and displayed in the classrooms through reflective pieces developed by their teachers. This documentation is valuable to educators, children and their families as they provide visual evidence of how play, inquiry, and exploration helps to develop each child. This laptop will be used to record these documents and allow them to be saved within their database. This will make it easier for their staff to track down documents from previous years.

While speaking with Violeta Looker, Nursery School Teacher, and Assistant Director of the Beacon Learning Centre she stated, “Thank you so much for the donation. The teachers are happy to have a quality laptop to complete their learning observations and other documentation.”
